Discover close up the hidden beauty of a working New Zealand high country farm

Far from the rush and distractions of everyday life, the Awatere Tussock Track is a 3 day walk into New Zealand’s rugged Marlborough high country.  The track showcases an integrated approach to farming and conservation practices and provides an opportunity to see unsurpassed views and walk where few have been before.

The owners

Simon and Lynda Harvey, along with their eldest son Thomas, farm ‘Glen Orkney’, an award winning 1930 Ha property in the Medway Valley, Marlborough

History

The farm was purchased in 1985 from Simon’s parents.  In 2012 the adjoining property ‘Stronsay’ was purchased and the two properties are farmed together

The land

Merino sheep and angus cattle are farmed alongside protected areas covenanted under the QEII trust.

Learn what makes where we live such a special place

The property runs 5000 merino sheep and supplies wool to Icebreaker and Smartwool.  250 angus cattle compliment the sheep.

Challenge yourself and relax your mind as you enjoy this tranquil environment with a group of friends.

Eight QEII covenanted areas provide habitat for some of our beautiful native species.  The walking track takes visitors through some of these regenerating areas of the property.
